Sick and tired
Now Playing: I'm sick and tired of celebrity politics!!!!!!!
Topic: celebrity politics
I personally am sick and tired of celebrities telling me what's good for me. It seems that I am being bombarded daily with images of people like Dave Matthews, Ben Affleck, Bruce Springsteen, and the rest of the super-rich telling me what is good for the lower and middle class. These people live in a fantasy world, a world of priviledge that the vast majority of the population will never be a part of, yet they want to tell me, a member of society who is barely able to pay my college tuition right now, that they know what is best for me and what issues are truly important? No sir, not going to happen!!!

I saw Ben Affleck on The O'Reilly Factor a few days ago and it really got me thinking. During this interview, Mr. Affleck said that he thought it was not fair that he got a tax cut like lower and middle classes did. He thought he should be paying more taxes. Personally, I disagree with this statement. And yes, I am a member of the lower (soon to be middle) class.

Rather than complaining about his tax cut, why doesn't Mr. Affleck spend some of the millions of dollars he makes every year to create a small business or help someone with the dream of creating their own business? Wouldn't this be a better way to help the economy than paying higher taxes? Rather than tying this money up in federal, state and local bureaucracy, wouldn't it be better to actually invest in the people who make this nation so great? Wouldn't it be better for Mr. Affleck to take some of his own initiative in the creation of jobs rather than complaining about the state of the economy? It only makes sense that putting more money in people's pockets will improve the economy by allowing people to spend more of their own money.

If people like Ben Affleck and other members of the celebrity elite are going to complain about the state of our economy, they should be doing everything they can on a personal level to create opportunity for those not as fortunate. Don't depend on the federal government to do it. Do it yourself.

Now, I don't expect any handouts from the super-rich. I don't expect anything but respect from anyone. But, I am sick and tired of the social elite saying that the government needs to do more work in creating jobs when they have the resources to do it themselves!

I have no problem with the state of the economy. Apparently Alan Greenspan feels the same way seeing that interest rates went up just today. If people will just stop complaining for a few minutes, they might actually become aware of the opportunity that stands before them.

Well, that's it for my first blog post.

Until I blog again,
Scott
